Tucked in the crown jewel of San Francisco (Golden Gate Park) is a sparkling gem of an annual music festival. Studded with world-class artists, fueled by a love of music and completely FREE to attend — that is Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Like the name suggests, the festival offers genres more than just bluegrass. Pictured here are me and my partner Dhruv in 2022 seeing Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew (of Talking Heads), after a set by Elvis Costello. Can anyone say “best date ever”? Fellas, take notes. Hardly Strictly, as locals call it, is just one of many great things to do during October in the Bay Area. Read on to see my recommendations.
