The San Francisco Bay has no shortage of wildlife. As a volunteer at the Marine Mammal Center, protecting the creatures that swim in our bay is close to my heart, and I’m particularly biased toward the lovably rotund harbor seals we often see congregating on the docks in Sausalito.
They aren't the only pinnipeds that call the San Francisco Bay home of course. The bay supports nearly 500 species, including sea lions, whales, dolphins, fish and other coastal animals. Birds migrate along the Pacific flyway here; during the summer months, you might spot blue or humpback whales.
So I can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend than setting sail on a wildlife ecology cruise from Sausalito to see some of our waterborne friends. See you out there!
