I’d never been to a haunted house until a friend from out of town visited on Halloween – what better way to experience San Francisco than in a haunted Victorian. The Haas-Lilienthal House did not disappoint – I’m not usually a screamer, and I screamed a lot. From a head on a platter in the dining room to the girl from The Ring crawling out of a bathtub, everything was convincing, and terrifying. They have since revamped the experience; it's now called Nightmare House on Franklin Street, and is no doubt equally spine-chilling. The Bay Area is full of creepy old architecture suitable for hauntings – read on for the most haunted spots for Halloween fun, and fear.
